We are excited to announce that we are looking for a Full-Time Medical Scheduler at our North Shore Gastroenterology Office in Great Neck, NY.
The Scheduler responsibilities are:
- Acts as a liaison between physician and patient
- Greets patients in a pleasant, polite and professional manner over the telephone- ability to make a positive impact on patient experience without face-to-face interaction
- Ability to answer 50+ calls per day in addition to managing voicemail box; triages and acts as an information resource or liaison for patients. Directs telephone calls appropriately and obtains detailed information
- Navigation of EMR system including handling patient accounts/medical records, addressing tasks or messages, scheduling various outpatient appointments, verifying insurances/obtaining prior-authorizations or referrals, obtaining up to date demographic information & patient ID/insurance cards, organizing/attaching incoming fax records
- Assist patients in registering & navigating the patient portal to communicate with physician, pay overdue bills, share patient records, and schedule appointments
- Confirm & create, cancel & reschedule patient appointments; record cases in patient charts

- Clerical responsibilities including mailing paperwork, faxing, scanning, and copying
- Utilize ancillary portals to obtain medical information and reports on patients or verify insurance eligibility
- Abides by the policies, procedures, guidelines, rules, testing, security administration and confidentiality of the Patients and Practice under the guidelines of OSHA and HIPAA Laws safeguards.
- Independently attempts to resolve patient concerns; knows when appropriate to seek out another resource
- Efficiently performs specialized tasks or projects as requested by physicians or Practice Administrator •
- Works varying or longer schedules, if Practice needs require.
- Displays consistent positive and polite approach towards patients, customers, vendors, management and co-workers
- Maintains clean, orderly and organized workstation.
- Reliable and flexible, keeping absences and tardiness to a minimum, acceptable standard
- Works out of other local offices, as directed.
- Performs other duties as required by management
- Attends/participates in staff meetings and in-services training
The Scheduler must have the following qualifications and experience:
- High School graduate or GED required
- 1-2 years of clerical medical office experience required
- 1-2 years of high call volume setting required; this position is NOT patient-facing
- Local travel may be expected for this position; reliable form of transportation to/from work required
