This job oversees strategic planning, direction, and overall accountability for department(s) comprised of multiple functional areas and facilities. Independently makes decisions that could seriously affect the overall division and/or financial objectives, performance objectives and strategic results. Develops and oversees the departmental budget. Ensures that the highest quality patient care is delivered in a cost effective manner. Develops, promotes, and markets new rehab programs within the organization’s network. Represents organization’s rehab services on various medical staff committees throughout the institution, as well as on selected external task forces.

Education

Required – Bachelor’s degree in physical therapy or occupational therapy

OR

a master’s degree in speech therapy.

Preferred – Master’s degree in business management or related field.

Work Experience

Required – 5 years of healthcare management experience.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule (e.g. more than eight hours a day) and travel throughout and between facilities.

Job Duties

  • Ensures quality of care and patient satisfaction by assuring the accuracy of data, work, or information and contributes ideas and suggestions to improve approaches, methodologies, and productivity.

  • Determines appropriate staffing levels and the interviews, hires, and conducts performance reviews of employees.

  • Provides regular feedback to administration, physicians, and customers and purchases rehab services to review service delivery and performance.

  • Conducts research, education, and training.

  • Determines equipment, supply, and service requirements and selects and purchases equipment and supplies as budgeted.

  • Monitors billing denials and along with business services, manages the revenue cycle and charge capture process.

  • Recommends long-range plans which support the company mission to senior leadership.

  • Develops feasibility studies surrounding new program development, detailing strategic, programmatic, financial, and implementation issues using input from involved disciplines and potential customers.

  • Develops and revises organizational structures to meet functional needs and ensures communication, reporting, and incentives align people and processes.

  • Performs other related duties as required.
