SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Purchasing Analyst maintains product and material in the purchasing database. This includes coordination with other purchasing team members for product and material updates, new parts development, and attribute additions and modifications. This position requires strong Excel and database management skills with an aptitude for learning and keen attention for detail. This position may also assist the purchasing managers with divisional initiatives including training new employees in the functions, processes, and practice of the purchasing database.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Input, maintain, and update accurate product and material in purchasing database.
- Manage attribute categories and all associated subcategories in purchasing database.
- Conduct regular review of Master Project to identify data discrepancies.
- Assist Regional Purchasing/Data Manager with static pricing evaluations.
- Provide consistent support to regional purchasing staff, purchasing managers, and design and production teams.
- Work with regional purchasing staff and/or purchasing managers to utilize Newstar Enterprise software and improve reporting functions.
- Create Excel spreadsheets to report data trends.
- Participate in correction of design and field problems to minimize budget variances, reduce costs, and avoid repetitive mistakes.
- Assist Regional Purchasing/Data Manager and Design Studio Manager to research innovative products and monitor trends and changes in the home building industry.
- Work with sales managers, all purchasing teams, and product development department on the development of new structural and designer plan options.
- Support purchasing managers with establishing new community projects and submitting options for pricing as required.
- Respond to e-mails and phone calls from vendors and interact with various employees to keep projects moving smoothly.
- Attend and participate in regular office or departmental meetings.
- Perform special projects and other duties as assigned by Regional Purchasing/Data Manager.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE
- Associate degree preferred.
- Strong Excel skills required; strong computer skills and willingness to learn new software.
- Residential construction knowledge.
- Organizational skills to manage database information in a logical manner.
- Self-motivated with attention to detail, positive attitude, and ability to work as a team member.
- Organization and time management skills are a necessity.
- Must have a valid driver’s license
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- The work environment is representative of an office/field setting
- The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate

- Travel to work sites and walk or climb in a construction site environment where temperature and noise levels vary.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. Vision abilities required by the job are close vision. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers to handle, feel, and operate office equipment such as a computer, copier, and office supplies. You will also be required to drive and travel for this position.
