Responsibilities
- Reviews patient’s chart and/or physician’s order to determine optimal imaging parameters for suspected pathology
- Selects proper imaging coil for study
- Performs imaging studies using proper scanning techniques and protocols
- Works with physicians to optimize MRI sequences to produce the highest quality MRI image
- Administers contrast media based on patient’s height and weight when ordered, including GFR screening and lab work
- Screens patients and family members for MRI safety and contra-indications
- Verifies pregnancy status, when appropriateÂ
- Obtains MRI consent documentation when appropriate
- Documents diagnostic and patient data in the appropriate record
- Administers MRI safety, screens patients for contraindication (i.e. foreign bodies, medical indications)
- Determines whether the patient has been appropriately prepared for the procedure
- On call assignments as needed per Department of Radiology policy
- Performs daily clerical duties, which includes the use of HIS systems, patient scheduling, and other computer systems as added by hospital
- Perform any and all other duties assigned
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
- High School Graduate/ GED required or Diploma from a Vocational/Technical school
- 0-1 years’ experience
- Must be MRI certified within one year of hire
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
Preferred Job Requirements:
- 2-4 years’ experience
- American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) certificate
