This position entails providing administrative and secretarial support to multiple attorneys within the Los Angeles Claims Legal Department. It necessitates a strong understanding of legal procedures and terminology to complete tasks effectively. The individual in this role must thrive in a fast-paced environment that places a premium on productivity. The primary responsibility of this role is to prepare, review, and process various legal documents and correspondence, as well as handle the legal calendar for multiple attorneys.
Responsibilities:
As part of the job, you will be responsible for various legal duties, such as drafting and preparing legal documents as per court regulations. These documents may include summons, complaints, motions, court forms, notices, pleadings, and legal opinions.
Use legal software and follow instructions from your attorney to produce accurate legal documents, reports, and letters; proofreading the final product carefully to maintain its integrity.
Responsible for entering all legal file data, such as correspondence, notices, documents, billing, and expenses, into the case management system. Ensure that any necessary corrections are made, information is updated, and inquiries are responded to promptly.
Scheduling and confirming appointments for attorneys, coordinating court appearances, and resolving any conflicts promptly. Provide efficient and reliable support to ensure that all appointments and appearances are successfully organized and confirmed without any issues.
Process all mail in compliance with law firm standards and maintain technical files and records, including comprehensive and detailed documentation. Finally, you will prepare reports and payment drafts.
Qualifications:
High School diploma, GED, or equivalent certificate required. Post-secondary business program preferred.
Minimum of three to five years related secretarial and/or legal experience required. Experience using accepted legal support and office organization practices.
Minimum typing speed of 55 – 60 corrected words per minute preferred.
Moderate ability to express ideas clearly, effectively, and persuasively required – both orally and in writing.
Advanced experience with personal computer and other office equipment required. Moderate proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook and ability to use provided computer technology to enhance the quality of work and programs highly desired.
Advanced ability to compose, prepare, proofread, and type correspondence required.
Moderate general knowledge of legal terminology and court procedures.
Strong behavior competencies related to results orientation, customer service, continuous improvement, teamwork and collaboration, and value of diversity highly desirable.

The starting pay range for this position is:
$27.48 – $36.64
Additionally, for full time positions, you will be eligible to participate in our incentive program based upon the achievement of organization, team and personal performance.
