This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual looking for a new challenge to own a portfolio of clients and work in a growing, sector focused team in a mid-tier firm.
Your role will be largely client facing and you will be the main point of contact for each client, acting as their conduit to the wider RSM service offering.
Over time your portfolio will grow as new clients are won and transitioned to the RSM global VAT compliance platform. Your involvement in the initial client onboarding process and assisting with the transition of new global VAT compliance engagements will provide you with a detailed knowledge of the client from the outset of the relationship between the client and RSM.
As your relationship with our clients develops having an analytical mind and close attention to detail will be key when liaising with stakeholders at all levels of the business and you must:
1. Possess a strong understanding of global VAT regulations and compliance requirements
2. Work closely with the clients’ cross functional teams in operations, supply chain, finance, tax, accounting, and logistics to ensure accurate VAT data collection and reporting.
3. Review and analyze existing VAT processes to identify areas for improvement.
4. Co-ordinate and lead implementation of people, process, and technology optimization plan as we scale our global VAT compliance operations
Responsibilities
Prepare and / or review EU & UK VAT returns, adding value wherever possible (technical, problem solving) and anticipating client expectations.
Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of sector / industry specific VAT issues, supply chain models, intra community transactions, EU & UK VAT and compliance reporting.
Support GVCR teams on client calls, third party vendors or meetings, taking responsibility for VAT technical and reporting expertise.
Assist in conducting VAT automation testing on client data to RSM VAT compliance system from a Global VAT compliance perspective.
Identify and discuss out of scope requirements if / as they arise during the on-boarding, compliance and delivery process and discuss corresponding scope of work and fees.
Ensure client deadlines and expectations are met or exceeded.
Assist in management of WIP billing and debtors on clients, support and assist seniors in an effective manner as and when required.
Manage VAT audits and inquiries from tax authorities, providing necessary documentation and support.
Develop supportive and effective working relationships with members of the team, promoting cooperation and input whilst keeping the VAT leadership informed of activities and progress.
Build strong relationships with clients and act as a bridge between clients and delivery teams where required.
At least 8-9 years of experience in VAT management, preferably within a multinational corporation or a professional services firm. In-depth knowledge of VAT legislation and regulations, as well as experience with VAT in multiple jurisdictions.

Ability to communicate complex VAT matters effectively to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
Proficiency in VAT reporting software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
