POSITION SUMMARY
The Stratton Winter Sports Club Freeskiing Head Coach will provide the highest level of modern Freestyle/Freeskiing coaching to prepare athletes for all levels of competition. The coach must have effective communication skills and the ability to maintain positive relationships with parents and athletes alike. Ability to make quick and effective judgement calls and coaching decisions to ensure that athletes are using the best practices in the safest manner possible. Along with on-hill management of athletes, this job will require significant travel to other resorts. The Freeskiing Head Coach will be asked to help build and maintain training and event venues. This is a seasonal part-time position with an hourly pay range of $19 – $31/hr, based upon certification level.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Execute a comprehensive in-season programming plan collaborated with the Program Manager.
- Recognize industry trends and advancements and incorporate these methods into seasonal goals and daily training plans for the programs to remain fresh and always providing value to our athletes and parents.
- Maintain positive dynamic communication plan to effectively inform all constituents of training schedules, critical program updates, specific event details, expanded training opportunities, program policies and philosophies related to their respective areas of participation or involvement with Stratton Winter Sports Club.
- Understand and uphold concepts for growth opportunity and program improvements to include expanded programming, camps, social activities that promote a year-round connection to the Club.
- Collaborate to establish best practices, work under pressure, and prioritize tasks accordingly.
- Maintain excellent guest and employee rapport and ensure customer satisfaction remains at the highest level possible.
- Develop strategies to expand insight into who our customers are and what they are looking for.
- Attend daily meetings as required and be able to step in as back up into any part of the daily operations without notice.
- Maintain appropriate asset protection and inventory control.
- Prepare venues as needed for training and competitions.
- Supervise training venues to ensure safety while athletes are training and that only authorized individuals are with-in any closed venue boundaries.
- Participate on working groups when asked.
- Maintain the highest safety standards and code compliance for guests and staff.
- Other duties as requested by Supervisors, Managers, Directors of Stratton Winter Sports Club, or Stratton Senior Leadership Team.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- High School Diploma, or equivalent
Experience:
- Previous experience participating in and coaching within their respective discipline at a state/local event, required.
- Knowledge and understanding of US Ski & Snowboard and/or USASA rules and regulations, required.
- A successful candidate should be familiar with event travel and should be prepared to travel as needed.
- Previous experience maintaining venues in accordance with criteria set by US Ski & Snowboard and/or USASA, required.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS
- US Ski & Snowboard and/or USASA membership, required.
- Current Safesport, CPR and First Aid and CDC Heads Up Concussion, required.
- Additional industry certifications or endorsements would be strongly considered.
- Effective communication skills.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Regular event travel may be required. Reimbursement is given for authorized travel expenses.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
This position requires work on select evenings, and all weekends and holidays during the winter season.
