CNC Horizontal Machinist – Large Generator Rotors (2nd Shift, Mon – Fri, 4:00pm – 12:00am) – Charlotte, NC

The2nd shift rotor horizontal machinist sets up and operates the CNC (ComplexNumeric Control) horizontal boring and slotter machines in order to performvarious operations on a variety of parts and components

How You’ll Make an Impact

• Mill and drill features on large electrical generator rotor shafts, which are typically made from 50 to 70-ton high alloy steel forgings.
• Manufacture a variety of alloy steel generator components and in-house tools using CNC machine tools and, occasionally, manual machine tools.
• Set up and operate one or more of the following machine tools: Ingersoll CNC Floor-Type Horizontal Boring Mill (19.5 meter travel), Giddings & Lewis FTR3500 CNC Floor-Type Horizontal Boring Mill (4 meter travel), Giddings & Lewis FTR5000 CNC Floor-Type Horizontal Boring Mill (14 meter travel), Ingersoll CNC Gantry-Type Multi-Spindle Mill, and Mazak CNC 5-axis machining center with PALLETECH system, as well as various manual drills and mills. 
• Teach and/or mentor employees in the Siemens Energy Apprenticeship Program.
• Engage in continuous improvement by applying 5S methodology as a component of a Lean production system.

What You Bring (requirement

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent. Associate degree or trade school certificate is preferred.
• 6+ years of CNC milling / drilling experience
• A basic knowledge of machine shop operations together with the ability to understand complex drawings, specifications, charts, and tables. 
• Ability to use various types of precision measuring instruments.
• Ability to obtain fork truck and crane license. Previous experience is preferred.

·       Successful applicants must be able to pass standardhearing, vision, and pulmonary function tests.

• Must also be able to read, write, understand, and follow verbal and/or written instructions in English.

·       Must be able to live and work legally in the UnitedStates.
