Claims Service Representative III – Subrogation
This position handles moderate to higher complexity claim matters involving material damage, property and/or liability lines of insurance written by the Interinsurance Exchange in compliance with all regulatory and statutory requirements. The primary functions include investigation, evaluation, and negotiation of moderate to higher complexity claims. With minimum to moderate supervision, the position employs discretion and independent judgment to ensure compliance with state and federal law, established company, technical, and customer service best practices. Ability to obtain Adjuster’s licenses for all states where the organization does business, and to obtain said licenses within 120 days of employment is mandatory.
Position works within specific limits and authority to:
- Evaluate evidence to confirm liability, damages, and possible avenues of recovery.
- Communicate and interact with a variety of individuals including insureds and claimants. Explain benefits, coverages, liability findings, and applicable subrogation laws and regulations either verbally or in writing in compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements.
- Negotiate within settlement authority with various parties.
- Update database production reports and document and update claim files via company systems.
- Control expenses for areas of responsibility.
- Coordinate with internal and external departments as required.
- Enhance member relationship by diversifying use of products and services when appropriate.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required.
Education
- Four-year college degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Experience
- Typically has 5 to 15 years claims handling experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
- Moderate computer literacy required.
- Moderate understanding of negligence desired.
- Moderate knowledge of fault assessment and subrogation principles required.
- Advanced organization and planning recognition skills required.
- Advanced oral and written communication skills required.
- Advanced interpersonal skills required.
