POSITION SUMMARY

To provide high quality imaging procedures to our patients and physicians in a respectful and efficient manner while providing those services in a safe and clean environment.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Formal Education / Training:
Graduate of an approved School of Radiologic Technology and subsequent Accreditation through The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Must be in compliance with CE Requirements.
BLS is required within 90 days of hire.

Workplace Experience:
Preference of at least one year of work experience in hospital after graduation and accreditation; however, willing to train.

Equipment and Skills Training:
Possesses general knowledge of many types of x-ray equipment and computers. Will train on specific equipment and processes utilized at Williamson Health. In addition, has had previous training in fluoroscopy, surgery, and routine studies and willing to perform those functions daily.

Physical Environment:
Radiation safety and universal precautions practiced in a multi modality imaging department.

Physical Effort:
Possesses the ability to perform multifunctional tasks to include: physically manipulate and operate equipment assist in the movement of patients from wheelchairs and stretchers to table; bend, twist, stoop; lift 20 pounds; communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing; make appropriate judgment decisions in urgent or emergency situations; and demonstrate emotional stability and psychological health in day to day interaction with fellow employees, patients, their families, and physicians.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

  1. Checks patient identification and physician order to ensure accuracy of request before proceeding with study.
  2. Provides proper radiation safety protection for all persons, to include self. Follows ALARA, IMAGE GENTLY AND IMAGE WISELY.
  3. Strives to maintain the dignity of each patient by ensuring the patient is properly covered at all times; during exam and patient transport.
  4. Shows leadership and teamwork in difficult situations and makes appropriate decisions.
  5. Volunteers for overtime and fills in when needed to ensure hybrid room coverage is adequate for daily cases and call coverage.
  6. Ensures the safety of patients by following all safety procedures while moving patients from wheelchair or stretcher to table and observing patient while on radiology table.
  7. Performs high quality studies consistently.
  8. Works well with fellow employees to provide the most efficient use of the equipment and ensures that all requests from physicians and patients are completed.
  9. Communicates with vascular surgeon to determine the correct venous/arterial study that needs to be ordered.
  10. Performs all post-processing for vascular studies and ensures all images reach PACS.
  11. Adequate knowledge of venous/arterial vessels.
  12. Performs daily checks on hybrid room equipment and has working knowledge of all aspects of the equipment to perform cases and can place a service call for Steris or Philips.
