Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) – Home Health 

Aveanna’s highly skilled pediatric therapy team provides our patients a full range of care to help them make the most of their care or recovery. We offer our industry-leading pediatric therapy for kids of all ages in multiple settings. We match our therapists to their patients based on medical condition, age, location, and acuity level. Our local clinic is looking for a compassionate PTA who would like to make a positive and lasting impact in the lives of their patients.    

Caseload Option 1:

Location: Flower Mound, Texas

Setting: Part-Time – Home Health

Schedule: Monday-Friday; No Weekends

Compensation: Up to $35,000 per year

Caseload Option 2:

Location: Carrollton, Texas

Setting: Part-Time – Home Health

Schedule: Monday-Friday; No Weekends

Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Qualifications:   

  • Meets the qualifications as established by APTA or other professional organization  
  • Licensed to practice Physical Therapy in the current state of practice  
  • Must be willing to work in home and clinic-based settings  
  • Valid, unexpired Driver’s License and automotive insurance  
  • Experienced in pediatric rehabilitative services preferred

Position Overview
As directed and supervised by a licensed Physical Therapist, the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) is responsible for provision of appropriate, timely and accurate treatments and/or screens of patients, for demonstrating consistency in clinical judgement and behavior, and for effectively communicating with both the Physical therapist and office staff. The Physical Therapist Assistant is also expected to adhere to all policies, procedures and professional standards of practice; support program growth through program development and implementation; meet productivity standards and contribute to a positive work environment that is compatible to achieving organizational goals.

Essential Job Functions
• Provide physical therapy services as prescribed by the physician under the direction of a licensed physical therapist
• Follow policies and procedures and conforms to all applicable patient care standards, licensure regulations and state laws
• Carries out appropriate techniques according to identified goals and treatment programs.
• Administers care to ensure safety for the patient
• Participate in coordination of services (including discharge planning), with health care teams, physicians, parent/guardians, nurses, and appropriate others.
• Shares knowledge with others and facilitates learning experiences which result in improved performance of targeted learner groups
• Documents according to policy and procedure and requires minimal supervision or instruction.
o Documents effectively resulting in no technical or clinical denials subsequent to review of documentation by payers
• Update self on the patient’s clinical condition
• Maintain effective communication between Physical therapist, staff, health care team members, and family
• Ensures continued professional development through participation in continuing education programs.
• Records hours worked, billable time and other required data according to Company policy
o Turns in time slips and clinical documentation on a weekly basis
• Serves as a resource consultant for physical therapist and clinical staff

Requirements
• Associate’s Degree from accredited physical therapy assistant program
• Current, unrestricted state license as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the state of practice
• Current CPR certification
• Demonstrated proficiency in clinical assessments, documentation and compliance with policies and procedures

Additional state specific requirements:
• Continuing Education as required by state

Preferences
• One (1) year of recent experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant in an acute care or rehab setting
• Pediatric experience

• Must be able to sit and climb stairs
• Must have visual and hearing acuity
• Must have strong sense of smell and touch
• Must be able to sufficiently reposition patients and move equipment without assistance
• Must be able to appropriately respond physically and mentally to emergency situations in the home or during transport

• Must be able to function in a wide variety of environments which may involve exposure to allergens and other various conditions
• Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids and infectious diseases
